Graham Fitton President Wonthaggi Business and Tourism Association 13 Nov 2019

I was gladdened to hear at last night’s Committee meeting that we have 9 new members who have joined up since our last meeting.  It’s important to get new perspectives into both the membership and just as importantly the Committee.  Renewal and fresh ideas are the lifeblood of any successful organisation.  One of the attractions for new members are the many member benefits listed in our prospectus, as well as a listing on our new searchable website where your page is indexable by the search engines.  It’s satisfying to see that some of the initiatives we have kicked off are having an impact already.

We held our second networking event at the Wonthaggi Union Arts Centre.  It was a fabulous night as Tony O’Connell from TS Constructions gave us a window into The Cape development, and we also got a rare back-stage tour of the theatre facilities.  Many thanks to Bass Coast Shire Council for making this venue available to us.

These networking nights are great value.  There main purpose is to get members to interact with each other, and that can be best achieved when as many local businesses as possible turn up. You get out of it what you put into it.  It’s the old RESULTS = DO x BE formula.  To be successful and attain your goals it’s not enough just to DO the work, you also need to bring you’re A-game and the best version of yourself possible (BE).   I’d like to see more local businesses turn up to our next networking event next year and bring their networking A-game!!

In the new year we are planning to launch a couple of new initiatives for members. For some time now we have been discussing ramping up business to business promotions and workshops.  These will be a value add to members at no cost, so now is a great time to join up and reap the benefits. Head over to Wonthaggibusinesses.com.au and click on the red button at the bottom of the homepage. Finally, we have our Christmas break up this year at the Wonthaggi Coal Mine on Saturday 7th December at 1.30 pm.  We are limited to 80 people, so get in quick at trybooking.com/BGSYX
